Seattle is one of the most popular Cruise Ports for Alaska Cruises. Finding the best Seattle waterfront hotels is very important to get a good start on your memorable waterfront or cruise vacation. We highly recommend spending possibly two nights in Seattle just to wind down and enjoy the city that is the founder Microsoft and Starbuck's Coffee at the famous Pike Market!
Cruise ship terminals: To board your cruise from Seattle you will choose from either Seattle Cruise Pier 91 or Seattle Cruise Pier 66. Unfortunately there are not as many waterfront hotels close to the cruise terminals as in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. However there are very fine hotels that are not too far away.
Best waterfront things to do in Seattle: If you are not already going on a long cruise you may enjoy harbor cruises. There are also whale watching tours. There is the Seattle Aquarium which everyone in the family can enjoy! Seattle's Pike Place Market is one of the biggest attractions in Seattle and you can enjoy a Starbuck's Coffee at the very original location where it all started! Of course there are also some great locations and trails along the waterfront. The Elliott Bay trail as well as the Discovery Park. The Seattle Great Wheel close to Pier 66 and also... they have a major improvement close to the Seattle downtown waterfront which should be complete in 2025.
Safety in Seattle: Always take normal safety precautions and always check with your concierge in your reputable hotel as to which areas to avoid. Seattle overall is a very safe city. Generally speaking, keep only one credit card or have one just for travelling with a low credit limit. Do not flash expensive jewelry. Keep your phone in a secure but readily available location.
Transportation in Seattle: For the budget conscious, take public transit. Public transit offer, bus, train and ferries! You can also choose Uber or regular taxis. Car rental is easy with Expedia and you will have plenty of premium car rental companies in Seattle to choose from. Please note that parking fees are extremely high in Seattle. Most Seattle hotels charge quite a high fee for parking as well.
Best time of year to visit Seattle: Let's be frank... Seattle is a bit wet! So, best time to visit would be after July 4 and end of August. We also like September because many tourists are gone because the kids are back in school. If you are thinking of traveling without kids around we suggest September to mid October. You will get the cheaper Seattle waterfront hotel rates from September to October or April to end of May but April and May have quite a bit of rain.
