You will find the beautiful Arraial do Cabo beaches just 3 hours by bus from the city center of Rio de Janeiro, Here lies the peninsula of Arraial do Cabo on the Atlantic coast. It is a favorite vacation spot for local Brazilians.
Praia do Farol was beautiful, it is a protected area as archeologists are studying the natives that once inhabited the island. Across the way we visited Prainhas where we did sandboarding on the dunes. The tour was almost 4 hours and included free drinks. After a shower and fine dinner we walked across town up the hill of Pontal do Atalaia to watch the sunset. It was very romantic.
Staying in a pousada (hotel) in Praia do Farol is very affordable and many speak English. There are also Hostels available at very reasonable rates.
Praia do Forno is my favorite of all Arraial do Cabo beaches, as it is only accessible by foot or by boat and there is only one house on the beach. There are also a few restaurants where you can get some fresh local fare for a very good price.
If you are interested in surfing,
Praia Grande is great for that, and on a hot day, the water is cool and refreshing.
The marina is at
Praia dos Anjos. Everything is within walking distance. I don't think we walked more than 30 minutes to get to any beach or destination. When we arrived in the downtown core, there was a diving shop, PLDivers, offering free tourist information and maps. The owner spoke English and was genuine.
If you love the ocean and its beaches, I highly recommend Arraial do Cabo beaches. You won't be disappointed.
